Exterior Remodel

Green Hammers Construction substantially improved the aesthetic appeal and energy efficiency of this North-end home with a complete exterior remodel including windows, siding and roof.

The Hardie board siding with its 50 year warranty (15 years before repainting is necessary) adds long-term low-maintanence beauty to the home's exterior. GHC transformed the home's exterior design by adding craftsman appeal in the form of French doors, a covered porch and open eve soffit. GHC installed a recyclable metal roof with a 30 year warranty.
We increased attic insulation to R-50+ and substantially improved basement insulation by sealing exposed rim-joists and decreasing air ingress into home. Blowing cellulose insulation into walls, adding house wrap, installing foam board and batten strips provided additional air barriers in walls. The Hardie board siding finished it off - final home insulation value of R-20!

Kitchen Eating Bar

A little-used, dark kitchen corner becomes a favorite every-day space. Replacing a small, aluminum frame picture window with a larger, energy-efficient, openable window optimized the natural light, limited heat loss, allowed for cross-breezes and made the foothills view significantly more noticeable. A template allowed the precise cuts for the bar out of sustainable and appealing bamboo. Finally, the bamboo bar was supported by a reinforced L-bracket recycled from the home's old mantel. In a house with just one eating space that was separated from the kitchen, this small project provided a much-desired social space in the kitchen at a very modest cost.
